Aims and objectives: The objective of WARG, the society for Winchester archaeology and local history, is to promote the study of archaeology and local history in the City of Winchester and the surrounding area, through monthly events

July 31st-August 15th — Summer Dig at St. Cross Park

Public Open Days Saturday 7th & Sunday 8th August

10.30 am to 4.00 pm

 

Come to St Cross to see what Winchester’s own “Time Team” have discovered in their fourth year of excavating in St. Cross Park.

 

There will be tours of the excavations and the chance to handle mediaeval finds and learn more about Winchester’s history.

Services and activities offered: WARG provides work parties and other support for Winchester Museums and develops training activities for volunteers.

Membership: Just £10 per annum, or £18 for two people at the same address. Free entry to meetings, and a thrice-yearly newsletter. To contact us: Come along to any of our meetings, email membership@warg.org.uk, or download an application form.

 

Times: Meetings and lectures at Peter Symonds College, Science Lecture Theatre, normally second Monday of the month, September to May, 19:30.  Click for Map

Non-members welcome with a £3 contribution (to include post-talk refreshments).
